Do I need to move out during a rewire?
Not necessarily. We can often work room by room, allowing you to remain in your home during the rewire. However, there will be periods without power in certain areas. We’ll discuss the best approach during your consultation and work to minimise disruption to your daily life.
How long does electrical work take?
Simple jobs like adding sockets or changing light fittings can often be completed in a few hours. Medium jobs like consumer unit upgrades typically take 1 day. Larger projects like full rewires are scheduled with clear timelines provided upfront (usually 5-10 days for an average house).
Do you provide certificates?
Yes, absolutely. All work is tested and certified in accordance with BS 7671 18th Edition regulations. You’ll receive all necessary documentation including an Electrical Installation Certificate or Minor Works Certificate for building control, insurance purposes, and future property sales.
How do I know if my house needs rewiring?
Signs include: wiring over 25-30 years old, rubber or fabric-covered cables, frequent circuit breaker trips, burn marks around sockets, flickering lights, insufficient sockets for modern needs, or if you’re planning major renovations. We offer free assessments.
Can you work around my schedule?
Yes, we understand you have commitments. We’re flexible with scheduling and can arrange appointments to suit you, including evening and weekend work where possible (may incur additional charges for out-of-hours work).
Will you make good after the work?
We make good minor plasterwork and fill cable routes, but for extensive plastering or decorating, you may need to arrange a separate decorator. We always leave work areas clean and tidy with dust sheets used throughout.
Do you install smart home systems?
Yes! We can install smart lighting, heating controls, smart switches, and integrate various smart home devices. We’ll advise on compatible systems and help you choose the right solution for your needs.
What's the difference between a consumer unit upgrade and a full rewire?
A consumer unit (fuse box) upgrade replaces the old box with a modern one featuring RCD protection and MCBs, but keeps existing cables. A full rewire replaces all cables throughout the property as well as the consumer unit. We’ll assess which you need.
